Apologies from Pavi and me for vanishing from this blog. A title survey was conducted for our book on the Aravind Eye Care System. Our publisher remarked that they typically get 60 to 80 respondents. Our draft manuscript has been submitted and it has been sent out to reviewers; we are slowly beginning to receive valuable feedback.

Setting up the real farm. After 2 years of search, finally we bought the land in feb 2010. Its in a village near kayathar which comes under tuticorin district. Its on the way from madurai to Tirunelveli. See the effects of erosion during rains. This is a long shot showing the boundary line on the west side and the neighboring cashew-amla farm on the north east side.

What Thrived in the Drought. 2016-2017 was an epic year for the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. We faced the worst drought in 140 years. So all around us, drilling for water upto a depth of even 1100 feet has become the norm. Our motor suspended at 500 feet could not pump water any more because water tends to flow. This years retreat of natural farmers in Coimbatore, Pollachi and Attapadi area was facilitated by Nipun Mehta of ServiceSpace.
